Description:	See var. nitida for general details. This variety can be distinguished by the subterete and crisped hairy petioles (not grooved and not or hardly winged); obtuse and ciliate stipules; shorter style with erect arms and more deeply lobed fruit.
Notes:	Two forms are sometimes distinguished, forma glabra differing in hairless petioles and stipules.

Habitat:	In mixed deciduous woodland, thickets and forest patches, usually on sandy soils.
Altitude range:	30 - 600 m

Worldwide distribution:	Southern DRC, Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia.
