Description:
Erect or spreading perennial herb, up to 60 cm tall. Stems with coarse longish white hairs and scattered shorter glandular hairs. Leaves 3-5-foliolate; leaaflets more or less narrowly obovate, harshly stigilose hairy on both surfaces; veins impressed above, prominent below; petiole up to 2.5 cm long, hairy like the stems. Inflorescences in terminal racemes, fairly dense at first but elongating in fruit. Flowers rose-coloured to purplish, often whitish to yellowish toward the base. Fruit a narrowly linear capsule up to 7 cm long, hairless.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: stricta: very straight, referring to the erect habit.
Habitat: In sandy coastal soils, sometimes as a weed of cultivation in coastal areas
