Description:
Low-growing, shrubby perennial herb, up to 90 cm tall but usually much smaller. Leaves opposite, small, ovate-elliptic, slightly fleshy with sparse glandular hairs. Flowers in the axils of the upper leaves. Corolla 5-lobed, only slightly 2-lipped, white to pale mauve-blue.
Notes: Kaj Vollesen has sunk Chaetacanthus under Dyschoriste in FZ 8(5) but this is not universally accepted. Kevin Balkwill another Kew author is in favour of maintaining Chaetacanthus as a genus (pers. comm Iain Darbyshire).

Habitat: Grassland and bushland.
