Description:
Erect, very sticky glandular, perennial herb growing from a woody rootstock. Stems several, branching near the base, up to 90 cm, more or less velvety pubescent with longer yellowish glandular hairs. Leaves 1-3 foliolate; leaflets round, ovate or elliptic to lanceolate, 1.5-9 cm long, pubescent to velvety on both surfaces. Flowers in lax racemes, usually appearing when the plant is almost leafless. Standard deep yellow, veined purple and often drying entirely purple outside. Pods sickly-shaped, 20-26 mm long, greenish, heavily veined and blotched purple, pubescent with numerous glandular based hairs.

Habitat: In grassland and woodland, often in rocky places, conspicuous after grass fires.
