Description: |
A deciduous climber with slender twining stems, up to 7 m long, verrucose, hairless except for interpetiolar ridges. Leaves opposite, elliptic, rarely obovate, 5–6 cm long, rarely longer, dark green above, pale green beneath, hairless; petiole 8–13 mm long. Inflorescences axillary, open, few-flowered, hairless. Sepals ovate, 3 mm long. Corolla white to greenish-white; tube campanulate, 2–5 mm long; lobes reflexed, linear-ovate, 5–11 mm long. Corona of lower whorl only, lobes deltoid to awl-shaped, 0.8–1.0 mm long, white to greenish-white. Follicles pendulous, narrowly spreading, cylindrically ovoid, falcate, 12–20 cm long. |
Notes: | Although this species has not yet been recorded from Mozambique it is very likely to occur since it has been recorded very close to the border in the Lemombo Mts and is generally common and widespread thoughout eastern South Africa. |
