Description:

Small tree to 7 m tall. Trunk armed with straight spines up to 8 cm long. Leaves: petiole 2-3 mm, rather stout; lamina 2-3 × 1.5-2 cm, obovate to almost circular, dark glossy green, hairless; apex rounded, notched. Flowers small, greenish. Fruit 0.6-1 cm long, ellipsoid, fleshy, bright red with small calyx lobes bent backwards at the base. Seeds 2. |
