Description:
Perennial herb growing from a depressed-globose tuber, 3-4 cm in diameter. Stems wiry up to 75 cm tall, mostly erect but often drooping apically, hairless. Leaves opposite, sessile, narrowly linear, 3-8 cm long, mostly ascending. Flowers sessile or shortly pedunculate, 1-2 together, together often forming branched racemose inflorescences. Corolla lobes filiform, c .8 mm long from a pinkish, ovate base; corona greenish-purple, hairless. Flowers inconspicuous but very sweetly fragrant.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: filifolium filiform, needle-like, referring to the very narrowly linear, grass-like leaves.
