Description:

Succulent herb, forming small clusters of pendent stems up to 190 cm long. Leaves 5–9, narrowly linear, often somewhat falcate and decurved, pendent, up to 50 cm long, green to greyish-green, occasionally with a few white spots, more heavily white spotted near the base; margins entire, or sometimes with small deltoid white teeth to 1 mm long. Inflorescences simple, arcuate-ascending, to 70 cm long. Racemes erect, cylindric-conical, laxly flowered, 10–12 cm long. Floral bracts lanceolate 4–5 mm long, white with brown veins,. Pedicels 10–12 mm long, terete, orange. Perianth orange with green veins, 20–23 mm long. |

Derivation of specific name:

rulkensii: named after Antonius J. H. (Ton) Rulkens in acknowledgement of his dedicated efforts in regards to the natural history of Mozambique and his special interest in the genus Aloe (as stated in McCoy & Baptista, 2016: 176). |
