Description:
Virgate suffrutex, ascending to erect up to 1.5 m high but usually shorter, Growing from a strong woody rootstock. Stems greenish, hairless or strigose, older stems becoming woody. Leaves often clustered on short lateral shoots; combined petiole and leaf axis needle-like, 1-8 cm long; terminal leaflet oblong-oblanceolate up to 12 mm long but falling early and often absent; lateral leaflets absent or vestigial; stipules scale-like, less than 1 mm long. Flowers in sgort axillary racemes of 1-4 cm long. Corolla c. 4.5 mm long pink to red. Pod cylindric, straighr, 12-28 mm long, reedish to brown with broad pale sutures.

Habitat: On sandy flats and in coastal dune forest, often on degraded soils.
Altitude range: 0 - 100 m

Worldwide distribution: Only known from Southern Mozambique and KwaZulu-Natal South Africa.
