Description: |
Evergreen shrub or small tree with spreading branches and many thick, finger-like pneumatophores. Bark dark grey or greyish-brown rough and fissured bark.; young branches swollen at the nodes. Leaves opposite, obovate-circular or obovate-elliptic 3-12.5 cm long, rounded or emarginate at the apex, leathery, yellow-green; margin entire, somewhat wavy; petiole stout, 3-15 mm long. Flowers 1-3 together, terminal; calyx green; petals strap-shaped, white, inconspicuous; stamens numerous in a conspicuous white mass, c. 4 4 cm in diameter, showy and fragrant. Fruit conical, up to 3 × 4 cm, crowned by the style and cupped in the deflexed calyx lobes, green. |
