Description: |
Evergreen shrub or small tree, to 9 m. Leaves coriaceous, ± circular; apex rounded to ± truncate, often emarginate; margin recurved; glossy green above, paler beneath; lateral veins c. 5, indistinct. Flowers solitary in axils, creamy white. Ovary glabrous with (8-)10 loculi. Fruit spherical, glabrous, red to purplish; female calyx persistent with wing-like lobes reflexed to form a frill. |
