Description: |
Shrub or liane climbing to 6 m high or more, hairless, latex present; younger branches 4-angled, smooth and green; older stems purplish or grey, verruculose with numerous lenticels. Leaves (sub)opposite but alternate on climbing shoots, oblong or elliptic, 4-10.5 cm long, glossy on both surfaces but paler beneath; margin finely toothed to subentire; petiole 5-9 mm long. Flowers in 2-12-flowered axillary clusters, greenish-yellow to deep yellow. Disk cylindric to deeply conic, sometimes fluted, 5-lobed at the lower margin. Stamens 3. Fruit globose, 1-8-3 cm in diameter, orange to pinkish. |
