Description:
Small, often mutli-stemmed, evergreen tree. Leaves imparipinnate with 5-7 ovate to lanceolate leaflets, 5-9 cm long, shiny green leathery, apex tapering into a long point; petiole with reddish velvety hairs and a distinct swelling, rounded or slightly notched. Flowers in 5-10-flowered racemes, up to 2 cm in diameter, white, fading to pinkish, often with a green midline on the standard sweetly scented. Pods flat and woody, 6-11 cm long, pale greyish cream, dehiscent.
Notes: The specimens in the images (BW1288) were found on steep rocky slopes of a volcanic inselberg at altitudes up to 270 m and flowering at the end of April. All being different from what is stated in most literature.

Habitat: Mostly found in coastal sand forest but also on steep rocky slopes of inselbergs (see note), often in groves.
