Description:
|
Medium-sized to large tree. Trunk and branches often armed with recurved prickles. Leaves often clustered at the ends of branches, 3-foliolate with leaflets ovate, up to 16 × 18 cm, hairless; apex long pointed. Terminal leaflet usually larger than more asymmetrical lateral leaflets. Flowers orange-scarlet in spectacular dense terminal racemes, flowering before the leaves arrive. Pod 12-20 cm long, irregularly constricted between the seeds, hairless, black. Seeds bright red with a black hilum. |
