Description:
Erect, little-branched suffrutex, mostly up to 60 cm tall, rarely more shrub-like up to 1.2 m. Young branches pubescent; older branches covered with buff, flaking bark. Leaves more or less narrowly elliptic, 9-16.5 cm long, scabrid-hairy above, hairy beneath; veins prominent beneath with bacterial nodules raised, dot-like at the intersections of the smaller reticulate veins; petiole up to 1 cm long. Stipules with a triangular limb, 2-6 mm long with silky hairs inside. Leaves often immature and restricted to the apex of the stem at flowering time. Inflorescences compact to lax up to 2.2 cm in diameter excluding corollas, with at least some pedicels arising directly from the node. Calyx and pedicels densely pubescent. Flowers white with a tube 8-17 mm long, hairless outside and not bearded at the throat; lobes 4-5 mm long. Fruit somewhat flattened velvety.
