Description:
Small single-stemmed suffrutex up to 50 cm tall, growing from a woody rhizome. Leaves elliptic to ovate, 5-8.5 cm long; domatia absent; bacterial nodules dot-like or elliptic, few and scattered; petiole up to 5 mm long. Stipules with a limb 2-3 mm long and an arista c. 2 mm long, drying pale and straw-coloured. Inflorescence terminal, 2-3 cm in diameter excluding corollas. Calyx with lobes linear-lanceolate, 5.5-7 mm long, light green, ciliate. Corolla white with a tube c. 1.6 cm long, sparsely pubescent inside; lobes 5.5-6 mm long. Fruit globose, crowned by the persistent calyx.
Notes: This species was until recently only known from the type collection (Evelyn Cecil 249, 1943, K). It has only recently been collected in fruit (Burrows 12806, BNRH and Wursten BW497, BR, EOWBL). It may well be undercollected due to its small stature, hidden among grasses and it appears not to be particularly rare.
