Description:

Shrub or perennial herb, up to 1.2 m tall. Indumentum (except on corolla) of uniformly short bristles interspersed with long white shaggy hairs and without gland-tipped hairs. Stem woody with ascending straight leafy branches. Leaves distinctly petiolate: lamina up to 6 × 2.2 cm, ovate-oblong or elliptic, regularly serrate in the upper half to two-thirds, entire below; apex acute or obtuse; base cuneate; petiole up to 1.5 cm long. Spikes 14-25 cm (elongating to 45 cm in fruit), terminal, straight, many-flowered with the calyces appressed to the inflorescence axis. Bracteoles 0. Calyx 13.5-14 mm long at anthesis. Corolla white; tube c. 30 mm, slender, abruptly expanded into a flat limb. Mericarps c. 5.5 mm long, separating from one another when ripe, each with an oblique pit at the base. |
