Description:
Climbing shrub or liane up to 20 m high with paired curled tendrils.Leaves opposite, variable in shape from ovate or elliptic to almost circular or heart-shaped, up to 5 cm long, often with much smaller pairs of leaves among the larger ones, 3-veined from just above the base, leathery, shiny green above,paler beneath, net-veining inconspicuous; margin entire, petiole almost absent or up to 3 mm long. Flowers 5-merous, in axillary and terminal, lax, few to many-flowered heads, white, creamy or greenish, hairy on the throat of the corolla. Stamens well-exserted. Fruit subglobose, 8-18 mm in diameter, smooth-skinned, soft, yellow when ripe.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: panganensis: of Pangani in Coastal Tanzania.
Habitat: In coastal forest, woodland, bush.
Altitude range: 0 - 500 m

Worldwide distribution: Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique and Madagascar.
