Description: |
Small tree; young branches sparsely stellate hairy. Leaves alternate, ovate to oblong, up to 20 cm long, rounded or cordate at the base; stellate hairy only when young; margin entire or somewhat wavy; petiole up to 6 cm long. Inflorescences in axillary branched heads on peduncles up to 3.5 cm long, stellate hairy. Flowers unisexual usually on different trees with obovate white petals 5-6 mm long. Numerous yellow stamens present in both sexes but shorter and sterile in female flowers. Fruit an ellipsoid, 2-valved capsule up to 1.5 cm long; each valve with 2 unequal leaf-like wings, 2-5 cm long. |
