Common names:
Frequency:
Status: Native
Description:
Biennial or perennial succulent, up to 60 cm high, growing from a tuberous root and with a basal rosette of leaves up to 10 cm in diameter, most prominent when young. Plants are usually unbranched but may rarely form branches below the mid stem. Leaves along the stem smaller and more pointed than basal leaves, gradually decreasing and becoming bract-like towards the top. Stems and leaf margins ciliate with white or greyish papillae. Flowers in many-flowered clusters in the leaf axils. Corolla 5-lobed, 2.25-4 mm long, white or reddish.
Notes: Young plants form a distinctive, dense basal rosette of broad succulent leaves before the stems appear.
When known as Crassula nodulosa several varieties and even forms were described but latest thinking has combined them all under C. capitella subsp. nodulosa.
