Description:
Erect annual herb, 15-120 cm tall. Leaves opposite lower on the stem, alternate higher up, ovate, 3-12 cm long, with rough short hairs on both surfaces; margin scalloped or toothed; petiole up to 4 cm long. Capitula terminal. Involucre with c. 5 spreading leaf-like green bracts up to 3 cm long. Disk-florets greenish-yellow with a bulging bract around the ovary conspicuous in fruit. Ray-florets few or absent, yellow, spathulate.
