Description:
Scrambling shrub or woody liane. Main stem fluted, up to 30 cm in diameter. Leaves ovate, up to c. 7.5 × 4.5 cm, dark green above with scattered hairs, densely whitish or yellowish tomentose below, 3-veined from the base; margin shallowly crenate-dentate or entire. Capitula in dense terminal corymbs, c. 6 cm in diameter. Involucral bracts pale yellowish-green, ovate to lanceolate, c. 2.5 mm. Florets yellow.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: schimperi: named after Wilhelm Schimper, explorer and collector, particularly in Ethiopia.
Habitat: Along the margins of evergreen forest.
