Description: |
Perennial herb, up to 25 cm tall. Leaves mostly basal or in the lower fifth of the stem, elliptic, 2.5-5 cm long, 3-5-veined from the base, leathery, shortly hairy on the veins and margin; margin often purplish, with a few glandular teeth in the upper half. Capitula solitary or rarely 2 together. Involucral bracts elliptic, up to 10 mm long, hairless or with a few hairs. Disk florets yellow; ray-florets 10-15 with ligules 10-12 mm long, white with 3 small teeth at the apex. |
Notes: | This species is easily distinguished from it closest relative, the more widespread Aster harveyanus by its much smaller habit, the almost basal leaves and the solitary flowers. |
