Description: |
Branching perennial herb up to c. 1m tall. Stems covered in appressed, T-shaped hairs. Leaves alternate, 3-9 cm long, ovate-lanceolate to narrowly elliptic, green and finely pubescent with T-shaped hairs above, white-felted beneath; apex with a mucronate tip; margin entire or with a few very small teeth. Capitula many in laxly branched heads. Involucres up to 10 × 13 mm; florets mauve-purple, 7-8 mm long. Achenes c. 1.5 mm long, strongly c. 6-ribbed; pappus of few, short-lived, barbed setae, c. 2 mm long. |

Habitat: | On quartzite soils in Uapaca sansibarica and open Brachystegia woodland in the Chimanimani Mountains |
