Description: |
Perennial or sometimes annual herb, 20-90 cm high. Stems hairless or often hairy in the lower parts. hairy. Leaves crowded on the lower parts of the stems, near linear to narrowly lanceolate, 10-70 mm long, sessile; midrib prominent beneath, lateral veins obscure; margins entire or toothed, distinctly wavy. Inflorescence lax. Corolla campanulate, deeply 5-lobed, variable in colour from white or cream to blue, mauve or purple. Capsule 3-12 mm long, c. 10-veined with 3 valves, 1-3 mm long. |
Notes: | This is a widespread species and very variable in flower size and colour, leaf shape, fruits and indumentum. |
