Description: |
Perennial climber, stems becoming woody when old. Leaves ovate to reniform, cordate, semi-succulent, sometimes shallowly 3-5 lobed. Inflorescences axillary, unisexual, male flowers in many-flowered inflorescences, female inflorescences few-flowered, greenish-yellow. Fruit oblong, leathery, flattened, winged, brownish when ripe. |
Notes: | A very striking and unusual species; the fruits not immediately suggesting Cucurbitaceae. The specimens in the images appear to be the first record for the Manica-Sofala Division. |
