Description: |
Mostly a smallish shrub up to c. 1-1.5 m tall but sometimes up to 3 m tall. Leaves opposite, elliptic, 2-14 cm long, mostly hairless but sometimes hairy on the veins; bacterial nodules mostly absent or rarely a few scattered around the leaf blade; stipules prominently bilobed. Inflorescences in few-many-flowered condensed subumbelliform heads, 1-1.5 cm in diameter on a peduncle up to 6.5 cm long. Flowers white. Fruit, subglobose, hairless, crowned by the limb of the calyx, first yellow to orange but bright red when ripe. |
