Description: |
Perennial herb, 30-60 cm tall. Leaves opposite, ovate, up to 6.5 cm long, densely hairy, somewhat sticky. Flowers axillary, solitary held in ovate, hairy bracteoles. Corolla white with a long narrow tube up to 9 cm long. |
Notes: | Ruellia oxysepala C.B.Clarke was described from Mozambique (Denkschr. Kaiserl. Akad. Wiss., Wien. Math.-Naturwiss. Kl. 78: 73, 1905). This is clearly a synonym of Ruellia bignoniiflora but was overlooked so not listed as such in FZ 8-5, 2013. (Iain Darbyshire and Kai Vollesen pers. Comm. by email 19-12-2020) |
