Description: |
Tiny, slender carnivorous terrestrial herbs, growing from short stolons. Roots, stolons and leaves set with numerous minute, globose, sortly-stalked, sticky glanular traps. Leaves 2-5 in a basal rosette, usually absent or very small at flowering time, oblanceolate-spathulate, c. 1 mm wide with a petiole up to 6 mm long. Inflorescence on a filiform peduncle 2- 30 cm long, laxly 1-4-flowered. Flowers pale mauve or white with a yellow spot on the palate, 3-15 mm long; upper lip, erect, parallel-sided in the upper half with a more or less deeply bifid apex; lower lip, half to almost as long as the spur, broadly ovate to sub-orbicular in outline, distinctly and often deeply 5-lobed. Spur up to 10 mm long, parallel with the lower lip, straight or rarely slightly curved, sometimes the spur may be very reduced and shortly conical or saccate. |
Notes: | The specimens in the images (Mapaura 660 and Ballings & Wursten 2272) are the first and only records from Mozambique but this species has probably been much overlooked. |
