Description:
More or less erect perennial herb with several mostly unbranched stems up to 1 m long, growing from a woody base. Stems with short spreading or recurved hairs. Leaves up to 18 mm long, linear to linear-lanceolate, roughly hairy to almost hairless; margin ciliate-hairy or with a few teeth towards the apex. Inflorescence of many compact racemes together forming a corymbose terminal head. Corolla c. 6 mm long, blue, lilac, mauve or pale purple, hairless. or mauve.
Notes: Although listed as a Zimbabwe endemic, its fairly widespread occurence in the border mountains, including Stapleford, Engwa and Chimanimanis, indicate tht it is very likely also found in adjacent areas in Mozambique.
Derivation of specific name: goetzei: named after Walter Goetze (1872-1899), German naturalist, explorer, photographer and collector in Tanzania.
Habitat: Montane grassland.
Altitude range: Up to 2140 m

Worldwide distribution: Restricted to the border highlands of Zimbabwe and Mozambique (see note).
