Description:	Erect annual herb up to c. 14 cm high, branching from near the base. Leaves opposite, subsessile, broadly ovate to almost circular, 9-20 mm long, shortly hairy on margins and veins beneath; margin serrate-crenate. Flowers solitary in the upper leaf axils, Pedicels 3-14 mm long slender. Calyx 2.5-3.5 mm long; lobes 1-1.5 mm long unequal. Corolla blue to lilac with darker blue or violet tinge, c. 6 mm long; upper lip oblong, 2 mm long, entire; lower lip 3-lobed, 2.5 mm long. Capsule ovoid-cylindric, 4.5-6 mm long, shortly beaked.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name:	nummulariifolia: with coin-like, almost circular leaves
Habitat:	Along streams and marshes and in rock crevices on rocky out crops, usually in wet, mossy or acidic soils.
Altitude range:	Up to 1600 m

Worldwide distribution:	Widespread in tropical Africa and Madagascar. Also in Asia from India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Birma, China and Thailand.
