Description: |
Perennial aromatic herb up to 60 cm high with several stems growing from a tuberous woody rootstock. Leaves opposite sessile, broadly elliptic, 3.5-7 cm long, clasping the stem at the base; margin crenate. Inflorescence terminal and in the upper leaf axils, together forming a large panicle. Flowers white, pubescent and with red sessile glands. |
Notes: | This is a recently described and clearly distinct species, occurring in rocky places of montane grassland in the border highlands shared with Zimbabwe. It is easily recognised by the broadly ovate, sessile leaves and the branched inflorescences of white flowers. |
