Description:	Strong climber, sometimes shrub-like, with branches up to 10 m long. Leaves alternate, ovate, oblong-ovate to almost circular, up to 13 × 16 cm, more or less cordate at the base, densely white woolly hairy, particularly when young and on the veins beneath; margin entire to slightly crenate; petiole slender, 3.5-7-5 cm long. white woolly. Flowers in few-flowered, axillary inflorescences on short peduncles. Corolla funnel-shaped, white, cream or yellowish with a mauve tube up to 14.5 cm long, hairless. Fruit a hairless pointed capsule up to 2.2 cm long, dehiscing to reveal brown seeds embedded in a dense "cotton ball" of very long brownish-white hairs.
Notes:	The grey-green, densely woolly stems and leaves as well as the cotton-wool embedded seeds resemble Ipomoea verbascoidea. That species has mauve-pink flowers and occurs at higher altitudes, usually in different types of miombo woodland.
