Description:
Twining or prostrate creeping herb with mostly hairless or pubescent stems, sometimes rooting at the nodes. Leaves ovate in outline up to 5 cm long, shallowly to deeply 3-lobed, hairless or sparsely hairy; margin more or less crenate; petiole up to 3 cm long, slender and often sparsely tuberculate in the basal half. Flowers solitary or in lax, few-flowered, branched inflorescences; peduncle 1-7 cm long. Corolla white or pale to bright yellow, bell-shaped, 5-12 mm long, hairy inside the tube with longer hairs near the base of the stamens. Fruit a globose or broadly conical capsule, obscurely 4-angled; valves wrinkled.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: hederacea: ivy-like, resembling Hedera in the leaf shape.
Habitat: In riverine forest and grassland, often on sandy soils.
Altitude range: 20 - 300 m

Worldwide distribution: Widespread in Tropical Africa, Madagascar, Tropical Asia, Southern China, Malaysia, Queensland Australia and some Pacific Islands.
