Description: |
Perennial twining herb with 1-2 annual stems, up to 0.5-3 m long, growing from a slightly flattened or concave tuberous rootstock. Milky sap present. Leaves opposite, variable, often on the same plant from linear-oblong to ovate-lanceolate, 1-7 cm long, fleshy, mostly hairless; base tapering into a petiole up to 8 mm; margin often wavy. Flowers in 1-many-flowered sessile axillary clusters. Corolla tube, c. 2 cm long, slightly curved, slender with a subglobose swelling at the base, pale purplish, greenish in the upper third; lobes lanceolate, 5-7 mm long, tapering into a long thread-like tip; lobes often spreading, sometimes with hair-like tips inflexed and connected, pale yellowish-green. Fruit in 2 follicles, fusiform, up to 16 cm long. |
