Description:
Shrub or small tree with arching branches. Leaves forming distinct rosettes at the ends of branches and short lateral shoots, obovate, leathery, glossy green above, paler below. Flowers greenish yellow, in small clusters under the new leaves. Fruit fleshy, ovoid, with a sharp bristle at the apex, yellow when ripe.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: mochisia: from to spill, to pour (Gr), possibly referring to the milky latex.
Habitat: Hot dry savannah woodland, often on termitaria.

Worldwide distribution: From Somalia to Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
