Description:	Suffrutex, growing from a creeping rhizome. Stems usually unbranched except where not burnt back by grass fires. Leaves mostly in 3's or 4's, sometimes (sub)opposite, linear to narrowly elliptic. Flowers solitary in the (lower) leaf axils, creamy-white with brownish stamens.Fruits spherical, c. 1.5 cm in diameter, purple-black when ripe.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name:	malangensis: from Malange (Malanje) in Northern Angola, where the type specimen was found.
Habitat:	A species of vlei edges, moist and secondary grassland, often forming extensive colonies.
Altitude range:	1000 - 2150 m

Worldwide distribution:	Angola, DRC, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
