Description: |

This subspecies is distinguished by the lower surface of the leaves being densely hairy on the reticulation but hairless or almost so on the areolae which may only have scales. Young leaves are not glutinous and petals are ciliate at the apex. |
Notes: | This is the only subspecies known in Mozambique. |

Habitat: | In Brachystegia woodland and in woodland on Kalahari sand, on rocky outcrops, mainly in hotter, drier areas and on sandy soils. |
