Description:
Formerly treated as subsp. orientale of Combretum celastroides. See subsp. celastroides for the general description. This taxon is distinguished by smaller leaves and flowers and a lack of velvet hairs on the underside of the leaves. In Zimbabwe, it is only found in hot dry bush in the South-eastern lowveld.
