Description: |
More or less erect perennial herb, 40 -100 cm tall. Leaves asymmetrical, glabrous, 5-17 cm long, ovate in outline, with more or less distinct triangular lobes; margin irregularly dentate. Flowers in lax terminal inflorescences, pale to bright pink. Fruit a deep reddish pink capsule with 3 distinct, more or less fleshy wings. |

Derivation of specific name: | sonderiana: most likely named after Otto Wilhelm Sonder (1812-1881), German botanist, algologist and pharmacist. He is co-author of the first three volumes of Flora Capensis. |
