Description:
Perennial shrubby herb, up to 0·6 m tall; branches pubescent with glandular hairs often mixed with longer stellate hairs. Leaves narrowly oblong to obovate-oblong or elliptic-oblong,up to 3 cm long, thinly stellate-pubescent and glandular above, more densely so beneath; margin serrate, at least towards the apex; petiole up to 7 mm long, glandular and stellate-pubescent; stipules deltoid-acuminate, c. 1 mm long, glandular and stellate-pubescent. Flowers on 1-flowered thinly stellate-pubescent and glandular axillary peduncles up to 1·5 cm long; pedicel, 2–4 mm. long. Calyx campanulate, c. 7 mm long, stellately pubescent with some glandular hairs; lobes narrowly triangular, c. 5 mm long. Petals oblong-obovate, c. 5 mm long, pink; margins inrolled in the lower third, pubescent within the inrolled portion. Stamens with narrowly obovate filaments, c. 3·5 mm. long, pilose on the shoulders; anthers c. 5·5 mm. long, purple, exserted, pubescent. Capsule oblong-ovoid, c. 8 mm long, truncate at the apex with 5 spreading horns 2 mm long.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: boraginiflora: with flowers like a Borago, a genus in Boraginaceae.
Habitat: Drier types of woodland with Colophospermum mopane or Acacia spp.
