Description:
Perennial herb c. 60 cm tall, branching from the base; stems stellate-hairy. Leaves elliptic, ovate-elliptic or lanceolate-oblong, up to 6 cm long, sparsely stellate-hairy with some simple hairs, on both surfaces, a little more densely so beneath, veins rather raised beneath; margin serrate or crenate-serrate; petiole up to 13 mm long, stellate-hairy; stipules subulate, c. 3 mm long, setose-hairy. Inflorescences leafy, of c. 2โ€“5 small clusters per node; peduncles and pedicels c. 3 mm long, pubescent; bracts linear-lanceolate, up to 2ยท5 mm long, forming an involucre, setose-hairy. Sepals reddish-brown, linear, 5 mm long, stellate-pubescent outside. Petals yellow, oblanceolate, c. 5 mm long, rounded at the apex, ciliate just above the base. Stamens 9โ€“10. Fruit c. 8 mm in diameter including the aculei; aculei broadening towards the base, shortly hairy, with 2โ€“5 spreading setae at the apex.
