Description: |
Shrub or small tree but often a liane. Stems hairless, with paired raised lines when young, purple-brown and sometimes with raised lenticels when older. Leaves mostly opposite, sometimes alternate on climbing shoots, lanceolate, oblong-lanceolate to ovate, 5-12 cm long, glossy dark green above, paler beneath; margin entire to shallowly, bluntly toothed; petiole 3-8 mm long. Stipules absent. Flowers in axillary clusters on pedicels 3-10 mm long, bisexual; petals 2-3 mm long, oblong-elliptic, yellow to greenish-yellow; disk convex-cylindric, greenish-yellow; stamens 3; style narrowly pyramidal. Fruit, globose, 1.2-3 cm in diameter, smooth, orange to orange-red when ripe. |
