Description: |
Scrambling shrub or small tree, up to c. 4.5 m tall. Bark light grey-brown. Leaves alternate, ovate to elliptic, up to c. 12.5 cm long, thinly textured, sparsely stellate hairy on both surfacess, 3-5-veined from the base; apex often drawn out into a long point; base with two glands next to the petiole below; margin sparsely and finely toothed; petiole 1.5-5.5 cm long, often bent near the base. Flowers without petal, creamy-green to yellowish in racemes 3-17 cm long, unisexual, often in separate inflorescences on different branches or even on different trees, sometimes with a few female flowers at the base of an otherwise male inflorescence. Fruit a 3-lobed capsule, 5-7 mm in diameter, green to black, on a stalk 1-2.5 cm long, dehiscent. |
