Description:
Ericoid shrub or subshrub, up to 2 m, sometimes sprawling. Leaves narrowly elliptic, c. 2.5 cm, crowded along the stems, pubescent; margins somewhat rolled under but underside visible. Flowers in short 2-5-flowered racemes mauve, purple or violet-pink, rarely white.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: gazensis: of Gazaland, usually a historic name for Southern Mozambique but in this case the type was collected in Eastern Zimbabwe.
Habitat: A species of riverine and evergreen forest margins, also found in rocky areas of mist-belt Brachystegia woodland.
Altitude range: 700 - 2000 m
