Description: |
Shrub or small evergreen tree, up to c. 6 m high. Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets oblong-elliptic, 3.5-9 cm long, bright green above, yellow-green beneath, densely set with translucent gland dots when seen against the light, hairless; margin entire and slightly rolled under; petiole up to 4 cm long, grooved above. Infloresences terminal and axillary, about as long as the petiole of the subtending leaf. Flowers unisexual on the same inflorescence, small, creamy-white; sepals 4; stamens 8, reduced to staminodes in female flowers;ovary slightly 4-lobed, absent in male flowers. Fruit c. 1.4 cm in diameter, very wrinkled and warty like a miniature lemon, reddish brown when ripe. |
