Description:
Spreading, rarely erect, annual herb to 1.2 m tall. Leaves imparipinnate with 5-11, alternate to subopposite leaflets; the leaflets 4-20 mm long, linear-lanceolate to narrowly elliptic, glabrous above and pubescent beneath. Flowers borne in 2-8-flowered umbels; peduncle 1.5-8 cm long bearing a leaf-like bract near the middle. Corolla yellow or orange; standard with brown veins. Fruit c. 7-12 mm long, the articles each 2-2.25 mm in diameter, shining, glabrous.

Derivation of specific name: abyssinica: of Abyssinia (Ethiopia)
Habitat: In montane grassland, on rocky outcrops and roadsides.

Worldwide distribution: Widespread in tropical Africa occurring in Nigeria, Cameroon, Eritrea, Ethiopia, DRC, East Africa, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
