Description: |
Stemless perennial herb. Leaves in a basal rosette. Lamina subcircular, 2-10 mm long, glandular on the upper surface and along the margins. Petiole 2-20 mm long, flattened and narrowly linear throughout its length. Flowering peduncles 1-4, arising laterally from the rosette, 4-30 cm long, erect, 2-12-flowered. Flowers white or pink. |
Notes: | This species is similar to Drosera dielsiana but can be distinguished by the subcircular leaf lamina, abruptly narrowed to a flattened petiole. D. dielsiana is restricted to montane seepage areas on rocks. |
Derivation of specific name: | burkeana: named after Joseph Burke (1812-1873), British botanist and collector who worked with botanist Carl Zeyher during several collecting expeditions in South Africa. |
