Description:
Multi-stemmed, low shrub, up to 2 m. Leaves stiff and leathery, oblanceolate with 3-6 teeth at the apex. Flowers solitary or in small groups at the ends of branches, orange-red.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: saxosum: of rocky or stony places
Habitat: On rocky quartzite soils in the Chimanimani Mts.
Altitude range: 1300 - 2150 m
Flowering time:All year; peak Sep - Dec
Worldwide distribution: Chimanimani Mts in Mozambique and Zimbabwe and Limpopo, Mpumalanga South Africa.
Mozambique distribution: MS
