Description: |
Scrambling or creeping perennial herb, rooting at the nodes. Stems up to several meters long, reddish-purple, hairy when young. Leaves opposite, ovate, upper surface slightly rough, under surface with long soft hairs on the veins. Flowers unisexual in small mixed axillary clusters (involucres), appearing as a single larger perianth. Fruit a very small nut, enclosed in the papery remains of the perianth. |
